NCT Lincoln would like to thank the sponsors of our Midwife of the Year Awards:
Curves Gym, Flowers by Suzanne, Jules King Antenatal Services, Mandarin Leisure, NHS Lincolnshire, Old Station Nurseries, pat-host.net, Waitrose, Wilkin Chapman Epton Blades Solicitors
Five Lincoln midwives have been thanked for their hard work and dedication to new mums by being handed an award. The National Childbirth Trust Lincoln branch created the award to recognise local midwives and is now able to release the names of the winners of its Midwife of the Year 2009 competition.
It was a close-run competition, so much so that the panel have chosen three midwives for commendations in addition to the winner and runner-up. This reflects the strength and depth of the nominations that were received.
When nominating midwives for the award, parents were also asked to complete the following sentence “This midwife should be NCT Lincoln Branch’s Midwife of the Year because…”
And this year parents comments said that their midwives fully supported them to make choices, respected and understood their needs and had gone out of her/his way to help.
The winners will be receiving their awards, and will be reunited with some of the parents who nominated them, in a presentation at the Antenatal Clinic (ground floor), Lincoln County Hospital on Friday 6th November at 1pm.
The winners are:
Kayleigh Waugh: Midwife of the Year – Nettleham (antenatal/postnatal) ward and Bardney (labour) ward. Lincoln County Hospital.
Kayleigh is our Midwife of the Year 2009 for being encouraging, patient, and understanding. She provides exceptional reassurance to parents who feel vulnerable. Kayleigh receives £500 worth of complementary therapies and/or personal training from Martin Thomas of Mandarin Leisure. Mandarin Leisure wish to reward the unsung hard work that midwives do. Kayleigh also receives 2 months’ membership of Curves gym, Waitrose champagne, a framed certificate and a glass trophy.
